Rooted in the rich history of Trinity County, the hotel reflects both the resilience of Weaverville itself and a long tradition of thoughtful hospitality. Today, the Weaverville Hotel is home to eight bespoke rooms and suites, each designed to honor the building’s Victorian-era character while offering contemporary comforts for a relaxed and memorable stay.
Originally built in 1861 at the height of the Gold Rush, the site first opened as Condon’s Saloon, one of twenty-seven saloons lining Main Street. After a series of fires and rebuilds—including the Empire Hotel and later restorations—the building evolved alongside the town itself.
In 1914, goldsmith and entrepreneur A.J. Fetzer restored the hotel and returned it to full service. Over the following decades, modern amenities were added, including steam heat, plumbing, electricity, and the iconic neon HOTEL sign. Traces of this layered history remain today, including burn marks still visible on the stairway.
In 2002, Brian and Jeanne Muir undertook an extensive renovation, reopening the hotel in 2004 as an intimate, thoughtfully restored property. In 2024, stewardship passed to three Northern California couples drawn to the unparalleled beauty and character of the Trinity Alps.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Weaverville, the hotel places guests within walking distance of local eateries, galleries, and cultural landmarks, while serving as a natural starting point for exploring nearby rivers, trails, and mountain towns.
Whether you’re here to rest, gather, explore, or simply slow down, the Weaverville Hotel offers a welcoming place to stay—shaped by history, cared for in the present, and guided by a long tradition of hospitality.

"This is a lovely space and has access to all the amenities needed for a plethora of gatherings. This space is very versatile; my event was a young child's birthday party and it worked amazingly, but I could also see this space easily used for work meetings/conferences, and even more fancy engagement/bridal events or baby showers. It can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Having a kitchen and chairs/tables on site made event set-up straightforward. This amenity is a great contribution to down-town Weaverville and I look forward to attending social events here in the future."
Everything was as described ... we had a wonderful pre-Thanksgiving dinner with our extended family who live in this area. There we just too many of us to stay at one of their homes. We are from Central California and stayed at the hotel.
The space is a wonderful spot for a gathering. Our church had a Valentine dinner in the event space and it was a fantastic spot. Hats off to the Weaverville Hotel for making this space available to our community.
